Summer of Basics: Best Combo Winner!
As both Karen and Kate at Kelbourne Woolens have mentioned, you all completely blew us away with your Summer of Basics projects! When starting out on this journey I never would have imagined so many people would take part or how inspired we would all be by the garments coming out of the challenge. I found so many new amazing accounts to follow, one of which is our Best Combo winner, Rachel Beckman!
Not only were Rachel's garments inspiring, the captions she wrote to describe her making process were as well, and I really found myself looking forward to her next post about the project. I've grabbed a few below so you can see what I mean. For her 3 garments Rachel chose the True Bias Ogden Cami, the Flaum Cardigan, and Sonya Phillip's Pants No. 1 and I think the combination is just perfect for late summer heading into fall, not to mention how seamlessly each single piece can slip into a day to day wardrobe.
It was incredibly hard choosing a winner, you guys did not make it easy for us! We had 2 days of back and forth texting before each of us reached a conclusion so thank you for being so amazing! As for my Summer of Basics garments, I did finish them all, but I'm just getting them photographed since I had to leave town for work at the end of the challenge. I'll have them up next week between posts for the Hadley Sew-Along.
If you haven't checked out the Summer of Basics Instagram feed, make sure you take a look, it's so so good and thanks again to everyone who participated! I heard a rumor that Karen may host this again next summer and I for one am crossing my fingers it happens!
