Today we're so excited to introduce the Scout Tee in sizes 14 – 30 and it's companion, the Scout Sleeve Variation Pack! The Scout was the second pattern I created for Grainline, and has consistently been one of our most popular patterns over the years. It's a great pattern for a wide variety of skill levels and is easily customizable. We're offering 20% off all Scout and Scout Sleeve Variations through Feb 24th, no code needed, so dive into your stash and let's sew some Scouts!
The Scout Tee
The Scout is a classic woven tee that that you'll reach for in your pattern stash – and closet – over and over again. It works up beautifully in a wide variety of fabrics, and is endlessly customizable. It's perfect for using up those odd cuts of fabric in your stash that you love but never figured out what to do with as well!
Let's talk a bit about the design details of the Scout and how the 14-30 differs from the 0-18 pattern. The main difference aside from the fact that the 14-30 Scout was drafted from scratch from our 14-30 block, is the addition of a bust dart. This allows the Scout to fit smoothly and neatly across the bust without overwhelming the lower half of the torso with excess fabric.
The cap sleeve of the Scout, combined with the armhole shape, allows for plenty of movement and is incredibly comfortable to wear. You'll have full arm movement in this top! Just like the 0-18 version, the back of the 14-30 Scout hits slightly lower than the front, something that isn't instantly noticeable while wearing it, but it does allow for full back coverage while sitting. No matter what rise you prefer with your pants you don't have to worry about your lower back showing! We've tried to think of all the details, and like always, the Scout has gone through our rigorous standards and testing processes guaranteeing a great fit and sewing experience. If you want to learn more about our pattern development process you can read about it here.
The Scout Sleeve Variation Pack
The Scout Sleeve Variation Pack expands the sleeve options for your Scout tee with one easy pattern. No need to do any drafting, attempt to ease the sleeve from another pattern into the Scout armhole, just cut and sew! Like the original cap sleeve, you'll enjoy a great range of motion and the flexibility of choosing a sleeve to go with the Scout you want!
The Scout Sleeve Variation Pack includes the four sleeves pictured above. Choose from a cute petal sleeve, a classic short sleeve, a cleverly cuffed version, or a traditional long sleeve. Use these sleeves as is or further customize them to create a look that's all your own!
Grabbing the Scout Patterns
At the moment we have the PDF for sale immediately in our shop and the paper pattern is available for pre-order. Unfortunately our tissue printer is still backed up from being closed at the end of last year due to their parent company's computer system being hacked. We anticipate having the pattern from them and available to ship by the end of the month.
If you previously purchased the Scout PDF from us and would like the new size range, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will add it to your account. If you purchased a PDF from another online retailer, please email us and include a copy of your receipt.
If you previously purchased a copy of the Scout paper pattern we are unfortunately unable to provide you with a new paper pattern. We are offering 20% off on paper pattern pre-orders or feel free to email us for a copy of the PDF pattern at email@example.com.
