2015 Pattern Recap: Tamarack Jacket
Shortly after the release of the Lark Tee, Jen and I started working on some personal pieces. Jen had an idea for a quilted jacket and as soon as she started drafting it, we were both in love. The construction was pretty simple and it was really fun to make something using quilting techniques. As soon as Jen posted about it, it started to seemed like we weren't the only two really excited about this jacket. So, we decided we would hurry up and make it as a PDF only pattern. We haven't done a strictly PDF pattern in a while, but this one was only six pieces and we really wanted it to be available to you before the cold winter set in. Take a look at the first post about the jacket for more info on Jen's design and inspiration.
Like I said, the pattern is six pieces and once quilted goes together quite quickly. The part that really takes up time is quilting all the pieces. However, if you're in a rush or just not a quilting person, there is a great post about buying pre-quilted fabric. In the post we talk about the the cutting layout for pre-quilted fabric and Jen included some examples that are really sweet prints, all of which would be great for spring. Read the post here!
One of our favorite things about the Tamarack is the freedom you have to quilt it in different patterns and with different techniques. Check out a post we did on quilting tips and techniques for the jacket.
Jen and I both love ours, Jen has two, actually! She made one with cotton batting and one with wool. I used wool batting in my jacket. If you're looking for more inspiration, check out a few finished jackets we picked out from Instagram!
