Hadley Sew-Along: Applying Interfacing
We always get questions about applying fusible interfacing so I wanted to add a photo illustration in addition to the information labeled on the pattern pieces and in the Cutting Layout section of your booklet. Hopefully this, and the rest of the information below, will help to demystify the interfacing process a bit. For View A you'll need to cut interfacing for the following pieces: 6, 7 & 10. You do not need to interface pieces 13 or 14.
For View B you'll need to cut interfacing for the following pieces: 8, 9, 11 & 12. You do not need to interface pieces 13 or 15.
Typically you would cut interfacing for all facing pieces but in the Hadley we have you skip the lower hem facings. The reason for this is that even with lightweight interfacing we found that it disrupted the flow and drape of the garment enough that it was noticeable. If you have more questions about choosing a fusible interfacing, we've got a few great posts on interfacing here:
Hope that helps clarify any interfacing questions you might have!
Please note that we have uncovered an error in the first printing of the PDF and paper pattern. On page 8 the interfacing layout for View A should be as shown on our Errata page here. If you have purchased the PDF pattern we've added an updated instruction file that you can access by logging into your account.
