New Pattern | 32001 Moss Mini Skirt
I'm excited to announce the newest Grainline Studio Pattern, the Moss Mini Skirt! You may remember this skirt from last fall's Autumn Wardrobe, if not, here's the link. This skirt is one of my all time favorite makes and gets a lot of wear all year round, though I especially love pairing it with tights, boots and a sweater in the cooler months.
The skirt has a few really great features. First of all it has a back yoke and slightly contoured back seam for a really great fit. The pockets are another of my favorite parts about this skirt. The pocket bags connect across to the center front which helps to keep them in place and not bunch up as well as allowing the slit pockets to lay nicely. I am not a fan of non-functional pockets so these are drafted with a bit of hand ease allowing you to actually use them! In case you're looking for a little less mini, I've included markings to lengthen or shorten the skirt depending on your personal preference as usual.
This pattern features two views, View A is the green skirt shown in the majority of photos, and View B adds a band to the hem, à la the Hound skirt in the next photo (note the base pattern of the Hound skirt is not the same, this one is better). I thought it might be fun for people to play around with different sheer fabrics, contrasting colors or whatnot. So many possibilities.
Garment Details
The Moss is a semi-fitted mini skirt that sits slightly below the natural waist and works up well in a variety of fabrics, from denim to wool and many fabrics in-between. Skirt features a fly front and button closure as well as a yoke at the back. If mini isn't quite your style, just slice along the marked line to lengthen the skirt as you wish. The pattern also includes a hem band in case you want to get fancy like this. Techniques involved include straight and curved seams, inserting a fly front zipper, and basic hemming. Pattern is nested to facilitate cutting between sizes if needed.
Suggested Fabrics
Medium to heavy weight fabrics such as denim, twill, cotton or wool. Generally anything described as “bottom weight.” Extra fabric is needed to match plaids, stripes or one-way design fabrics.

Note - 45" wide fabric is not recommended for sizes 12-18 due to width restrictions.
