Lexi's Tie Front Alder Shirt

After planning out her 2019 Summer Style Inspiration Pinterest board, Lexi got down to work on bringing her seasonal wardrobe to life. She made this Tie Front Alder Shirt out of a delicate, slightly sheer vintage fabric she had in her stash. To make this summery top, she modified the Front Bodice pattern piece of View B of the Alder pattern and then left off the skirt.

Lexi used the Front Bodice piece as a guide in order to trace out the shorter, curved front ties from the shirt tail of the front button band . The dotted line shown above is a close approximation of modification she made to the pattern. After cutting out her fabric using her new front bodice pieces, she sewed the shirt together following the instructions, and then she finished the hem with bias binding. If you're planning on making your own version of this top we recommend making a muslin in order to get your desired fit!

Lexi was pleased with the final result. The modifications worked as she had been envisioning they would all along, and she now has a top that pairs wonderfully with other items in her closet! Did you make any summer sewing plans? How are they going? Let us know in the comments below!
