Lark Sew-Along: Boatneck

Lark Sew-Along: Boatneck

Now for our final neckline, the boatneck. This one is by far the easiest with only 3 steps. Lets go!

Lark Sew-Along: Boatneck

This first step is optional, but if you have a serger I recommend serging around the neckline. This helps to create a fold line around the neck edge and also looks nice on the finished shirt.

Fold and press the 1/4" seam allowance to the inside of the shirt. Lark Sew-Along: Boatneck

Stitch around the folded edge using either your coverstitch, zigzag stitch, stretch stitch, or even a straight stitch. I used a straight stitch in this shirt and wear it all the time with no trouble around the neckline area from the stitch not being stretchy enough. I recommend testing out the finish you intend on using on a scrap fabric if you're not sure which way to go. Every knit fabric is different so it's nice to see the stitch and fabric working together before you finish your neckline.

That's it, told you it was the easiest! Tomorrow we'll be hemming so you'll be wearing your Lark in no time!
