Hadley Sew-Along: View A Neckline Facing
To finish your view A neckline begin by aligning the shoulder seams of the front and back necklines with the right sides facing each other. Stitch across the seam line.
Press the seam allowances open. The back neck is not sewn together.
Align the neck facing around the neckline, the right sides of the shirt and facing should be together. At the center back neck fold the excess seam allowance of the facing around the edge of the shirt. Pin in place and stitch from one side of the back neck, around the neckline, to the other side.
Clip and grade your seam allowances.
Press both the facing and seam allowance up away from the shirt. Understitch around the seam line through the facing and both layers of seam allowance. This will force the seam line to roll to the inside of the garment when pressed.
Press the facing to the inside of the garment. Slipstitch the back facing to the back neck opening and tack the shoulders and center front facing to the seam allowance to secure it in place. That's it for the view A back neck!
