A Summer Lookbook (and discount code!) from Oak Fabrics
I hope you all are ready for a Friday treat, because I’ve got one for you! A super cute look book, kits, and a discount code from my local shop (and old employer!) Oak Fabrics featuring our patterns with the amazing new fabric lines from Leah Duncan!
Rachel, the owner of Oak Fabrics, floated us the idea to create a Grainline Studio x Leah Duncan look book with kitted projects a few weeks back and we loved it! As a fabric store owner Rachel spends a ton of time coaching people through the sometimes difficult task of picking the right fabric for the job which is something I can completely relate to. It can often be hard to really know if the fabric you’re choosing is the right one for the job, not only for beginners, but especially in a time where so much of our fabric is purchased online. Swatches can help, but not everyone offers those on the fun prints coming out of the fabric companies these days. To alleviate some of this confusion she wanted to create kits that offer a sure bet finished garment. As she told me "I like to be a bit outside the box and try to stir a little courage and confidence when choosing fabrics. Leah's 2 fabric lines coming out back to back really inspired me as a garment maker, and Grainline patterns being the go-to for simple, yet sophisticated silhouettes - it seemed like a no brainer pairing!”
We couldn’t agree more, you all know we’re HUGE Leah Duncan fans over here and have used her fabrics in quite a few pattern launches and samples. Her designs somehow manage to walk the very fine line between fun and sophisticated, and I love how the scale of her prints works so well for garments. Leah’s new collections, Lines & Shapes on canvas and Floret on cotton batiste are no exception!

Rachel has included not only the fabric and pattern needed, but also matching thread and all the random bits and bobs needed to complete your garment such as matching bias binding, zippers, jeans buttons, etc. depending on what the particular pattern calls for.
