Jana of Effortless Attention let us know that she put together this adorable Portside Duffel bag for her bear, Bär. Jen and I were so warmed by this tiny Portside and we couldn't stop smiling about it. So, we thought we had to show you all just how sweet this bag is and we had to find out more about what Jana did to make such a tiny creation!

Which pattern did you use? Portside Travel Set
What type of fabric or other materials did you use? The main fabric was left over from the Portside Duffel Bag I made for my dad’s birthday last year. It’s a black stretch cotton twill with a subtle woven stripe pattern. I cut matching straps from the main fabric as well. The lining is a cotton plaid that was left over from two tops I made a while ago. The zip is from my mum’s stash, and I omitted all of the other hardware.
Tell us about your project! Esteemed readers of the Grainline Studio blog, let me proudly present to you … the most adorable Portside Duffel Bag you have ever seen! Owned by the most adorable bear you have ever seen! So … Meet Bär, who lives with my parents. Occasionally, he also travels with my parents—and when he does, he wants to pack his clothes. He owns quite a few clothes by now, including two shirts I’ve drafted and sewn and several hats, a turtle-neck pullover and a cardigan that my mum has knitted. I’m sure you guys can easily see that he desperately needed a good travel bag! Enter: the Portside Duffel Bag. I’ve made the pattern three times before, with very good results. My brother’s and dad’s bags have been in heavy use for a while and still look great. So I decided to make a bear-sized version for Bär. I printed the pattern at 40% of the original size, used the lining pattern pieces for both the shell and lining, and omitted the shoulder strap and any hardware except for the zip at the top. I’m sure Jen never expected her pattern to be used like this, but I had a lot of fun making the bag, it came together in an afternoon, and Bär was really delighted when I gave it to him! Success all around! (:
