As soon as I saw that Miranda had purchased the Maritime Shorts pattern I knew I was going to see an awesome project so when I saw this post in my reader a few months back I was super psyched. Not only are her shorts beautifully made, she altered the pattern to make these her own by include extra length and I think they turned out great, don’t you?!

“Well, it’s pretty much all written there on the post. I love the short you made, and thought I’d give a go making some for myself, since I really needed some new, better-fitting shorts.
I like my shorts to the knee, so I added 10″ to the original pattern, just using a straightedge to extend the existing pattern edges. The length ended up perfect!
This is the first time I’ve ever inserted a fly, and the instructions were wonderful and clear. It turned out to be a lot less stressful than I had imagined.
I love the fit and am already scheeming how to adjust this pattern to make myself some long sailor-style pants for the fall! “

So amazing! What an awesome version of an already fantastic pattern. I’m totally getting that pattern for myself next Spring. xx
Nice! They really look impeccably made!
What a great look! Great job, Miranda!
Thank you Ginger! xo Miranda
