Summer of Basics Progress

Are you guys taking part in the Fringe Association Summer of Basics challenge? If you're wondering what it is, here's it explained by Karen herself:

Wherein we each made 3 high-closet-value garments in the space of 3 months, either knitted, sewn, or any combination of the two. It was a season of so much camaraderie, so many people stretching their skills, so many fantastic garments! So yes, by all means, let’s do it again. Same time period as last year: June 1 through August 31.

I did a bit better job planning last year but I think my follow-through this year is much improved! My basics this year are 2 Uniform Tunics and 1 Uniform Cardigan. I figured if I bundled the Summer of Basics along with the Uniform Make-Along then I'd have a much better job of getting them finished and I was right!

I finished up both tunics back in June and I'm about halfway through the cardigan. I'm just showing the progress right now because I'm hoping to do a fun shoot when all three pieces are finished. I used Robert Kaufman Limerick Linen in Charcoal for my tunics which was kindly provided by them for our Uniform Sew-Along. I absolutely love this fabric, it's lightweight with a gorgeous hand and washes really well. For my cardigan I went with Woolfolk Får in color 12. I've always wanted to try out this super soft, chained yarn so when they asked if I'd be interested in having some sent over for the cardigan I jumped at the chance!

So that's how my Summer of Basics is shaping up so far. Are you taking part? If so, how's it going?!
