Earlier this week (or maybe it was last week, who can remember) I posted on twitter asking how people organize their fabric stash as I needed to do something about mine. Alana pointed me towards this printout from The Sew Weekly that I had somehow missed which turned out to be exactly what I needed. I have such a small sewing studio that I have to keep my fabric (and ironing board) in another room. Not such a big deal for the fabric if I could remember what I had and how much of it, sort of a pain for the iron, leaving the room to iron after every seam. Oh well! Anyway I finally finished sewing everything that needed to be sewn for my Christmas orders last night and decided to spend a little time working on organizing my fabric (and house). It was a bit of a nightmare but I found some fabric that I had sort of forgotten about so that made it a little better. The first fabric photo is of 3 fabrics I bought in London in 2003 but have been too afraid to cut into! The first one has elastic threads woven into it, the second is a beautiful sheer and the third has pintucked stripes! Maybe this year I’ll think about turning one into something. We’ll see…I’m sort of terrified that I’ll make them into something that will go out of style and then I’ll be so sad. The second fabric photo is some houndstooth silk twill and green silk that I am supposed to be turning into a dress for my sister. Now that I’ve found it I should probably hop on that. Also note to self, stop buying wool and hoarding it! I’m drowning in wool and seriously, how many wool garments can a person make? Yikes!
