Pattern Tutorial | Maritime Shorts Variation

I’m almost ready to post the sewing tutorial for the Maritime Shorts but I figured I should post this pattern tutorial before I do the sewing tutorial since I’ll be showing you how to sew the both the original version and this modified variation with a curved side hem (shown here). ┬áHere goes…the curved hem variation!

Start by tracing your Front and Back patterns. Remove the bottom 1/2″ seam allowance, since we’ll be finishing the raw edge with bias binding we won’t need any seam allowance. Next measure how far up the side seam you’d like your curve to go and mark a line, be sure both marks are the same distance from the bottom, and draw a curved line connecting the mark with the hem.

It’s all pretty easy, you probably barely even needed this but here it is anyway! Sewing tutorial is up next and then some of my backlog of finished Summer Wardrobe garments!!!!

Thank-you! I agree – the modification makes these shorts really versatile. I want a pair both ways!
